Presentation of theme Paris (Exhibition Impossible)

Paris, capital of France and at the crossroads of trade routes is a very touristic town.

Symbol of French culture, often considered to be the capital of love, but also as the most beautiful city in the world, Paris never ceased to inspire the greatest artists, whether to capture moments of life, to transcribe the architecture of the city, or simply to represent the love which Paris is the capital.

Already present in Antiquity, then called Lutetia, Paris was a small town of about 5000 inhabitants. During the Middle Ages, Clovis made Paris his capital. It was not until some centuries that the city became the undisputed capital of the kingdom of France.

Today called the City of Light, Paris is as source of inspiration for many artists. Artists such as Callot, Verwer or even Zeeman already appreciated, during the 17th Century, to paint the banks of the Seine. In a little while, artists such as Corot, Monet and Renoir planted their bridge in the city to represent the Seine, "The Saint-Lazare Station" or even Montmartre.

We may also mention "The Seine and the Louvre" painted by Pissarro, "The Sacré-Coeur from the Garden of Rue Cortot" by Valadon or even "Sunday" by Chagall, all representing Paris in their own way, either with a Impressionist or a Surrealistic style.

But Paris is also a city where culture is very present, with many museums to visit such as The Louvre Museum, Paris, the Orangerie Museum, Paris or even the Orsay Museum, Paris.
